Trial Supervision and Feasibility Study for Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) and Preloading Implementation – Martabe Tailings Storage Facility

The Trial Supervision and Feasibility Study for Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) and Preloading Implementation at the Martabe Tailings Storage Facility was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of ground improvement methods in an area with soft soil conditions and long-term embankment stability requirements. The scope of work included field trial supervision, evaluation of PVD and preloading performance, consolidation and ground deformation analysis, and development of design recommendations and implementation parameters for ground improvement. Key challenges included potential consolidation settlement, soft soil deformation, tailings embankment stability, and the need to accelerate the consolidation process within the storage facility area. The technical approach involved evaluating PVD and preloading performance, optimizing ground improvement parameters and geotechnical monitoring, and developing design recommendations to enhance embankment stability and accelerate soil consolidation.
