Liquefaction Potential Assessment for the East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT) Phase 1A and 1B Development Project
East Java
The Liquefaction Potential Assessment for the East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT) Phase 1A and 1B Development Project was conducted to evaluate liquefaction susceptibility within the port development area, where loose sandy soils and seismic activity may affect infrastructure stability. The scope of work included geotechnical investigation and analysis, assessment of liquefaction potential based on soil parameters and seismic loading, evaluation of soil response to seismic activity, and development of mitigation and ground improvement recommendations. Key challenges included loose granular soils in the coastal area, seismic amplification and potential ground deformation, and the need to maintain port infrastructure stability under seismic loading. The technical approach involved evaluating liquefaction potential and ground deformation, optimizing soil improvement and geotechnical mitigation measures, and developing ground treatment recommendations to enhance the stability and seismic resilience of the port infrastructure.
