Detailed Engineering Design for the Design and Build of Kalibaru Terminal Phase 1B – Tanjung Priok Port
DKI Jakarta
The Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for the Design and Build of Kalibaru Terminal Phase 1B at Tanjung Priok Port was conducted to support the development of port terminal infrastructure within a reclaimed coastal area, with a focus on ensuring stable quay structures capable of supporting high-capacity port operations. The scope of work included geotechnical and quay structure stability evaluations, analysis and design of approximately 950 meters of quay wall, assessment of liquefaction potential and ground deformation, and development of the Detailed Engineering Design for quay structures and ground improvement systems. Key challenges included soft reclaimed soils, the requirement for a free-standing structure extending to approximately 25.5 meters in depth, and potential liquefaction under major earthquake loading in the coastal area. The technical solution incorporated a combination of Steel Pipe Sheet Pile (SPSP), Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) and Cement Fly Ash Gravel (CFG) ground improvement methods, along with anchor piles and tie rods to enhance quay stability against deformation, operational loads, and seismic effects.
